What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda - the Science of Life.
This ancient healing system from India is a way to help you care for yourself. You can learn what foods will support you (hint: the foods you already love!), the what and how of small changes in your daily routine that can impact your health and the activities that will lend a sense of well being as you discover what self-care means to you.
I started my own Ayurveda journey in 2019 with the Kripalu Kitchen: Nourishing Food for Body and Soul cookbook by Jeremy Rock Smith and David Joachim that I received as a gift. In it, I was introduced to the doshas and basic Ayurvedic principles. As I was learning to cook new and delicious dishes, I started noticing I felt better. In 2023, after many years in corporate America in which I often ignored my own health needs, I began my studies of Ayurveda at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. I graduated in 2024 with the Ayurvedic Health Consultant certificate. I fell in love with the simplicity of the daily practices that brought me to a better understanding of myself, my body and my spirit. Ayurveda’s lifelong approach is now a mainstay of my daily routines. Being human, there are still days when I feel unwell and I can rely on Ayurveda to help me find my balance again whether recovering from an illness, feeling fatigued or dealing with upset digestion.
If you’ve been told you need to change your routines and diet and aren’t sure where to start or want to add something new to what you’re doing now, I can support you in discovering what that looks like for you. With Ayurveda’s practical and individual based approach to health, we can work together to find practices that are suited your diet and your lifestyle.
